About Highwood Audio School
We build clear, structured courses that help beginners grasp the core of sound engineering—without fluff. Our focus is on practical workflows, thoughtful explanations, and repeatable results.
Our Story
Highwood Audio School started as a small study group and evolved into a full learning platform. We value simplicity, rigor, and accessible education.
In our early sessions, we met in a garage with two microphones and a battered interface. That constraint shaped our pedagogy: precise listening, deliberate experimentation, and honest critique.
Our Approach
Every lesson targets a single concept with a concrete outcome. You practice immediately, receive feedback, and build projects that demonstrate your progress.
- Concept-first demos with annotated signal flow.
- Hands-on exercises: gain staging, EQ moves, compression strategies, editing decisions.
- Iterative feedback with A/B comparisons and loudness-matched references.
Workflow Labs
Short, focused drills to internalize listening habits and move faster without sacrificing quality.
Project Reviews
Actionable critiques with measurable next steps and clear acceptance criteria for each module.
